El Tovar Hotel Hopi House
Hopi House is located across from El Tovar hotel. It is was designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter based on the Hopi Indian dwelling at Oraibi, Arizona. She designed Hopi House as a gift shop for tourists and used Moenkopi sandstone and Kaibab limestone native to the area. It was completed January 1, 1905 a few days before El Tovar hotel opened., and is a National Historic Landmark.
